A flexible working arrangement is an agreed change to an employee’s usual hours, location, or pattern of work to accommodate personal circumstances, and eligible full-time, part-time, and some long-term casual employees can request it in writing.

Employers must respond within 21 days and can only refuse on reasonable business grounds, with disputes able to be taken to the Fair Work Commission for conciliation or arbitration.
