The First Nations paralegal is an identified position for a person who is First Nations. The role of the paralegal is to provide administrative and casework support to the First Nations lawyer and First Nations clients, in a culturally appropriate and accessible manner.  This role provides an opportunity to work within a culturally safe practice at Redfern legal Centre, dedicated to assisting First Nations clients in our local area, across a range of legal issues and areas of law. The First Nations paralegal may also assist other practice areas, depending on capacity and demand.

The Tenancy Practice Lead manages tenancy services, supervises lawyers and advocates, handles complex casework, and liaises with stakeholders like the Tenants Union NSW, government, and industry colleagues, while also driving policy and law reform on housing justice and delivering community legal education; the role requires at least five years of tenancy casework experience, proven leadership and management ability, and a demonstrated track record in law reform advocacy and legal education delivery.

This announcement follows years of advocacy by Redfern Legal Centre, many other community and health organisations, and families impacted by drug-related deaths at music festivals. It is encouraging that the NSW Government is listening to evidence and expert advice and backing harm minimisation measures. However, the Government must now take the next logical step and cease the use of drug detection dogs and strip searches for suspected drug possession at music festivals.

The Independent Tenant Advocate will provide support to social housing tenants who are being relocated as part of the renewal of the Waterloo South Estate. The Independent Tenant Advocate will provide independent guidance and support to tenants, attend meetings with tenants, liaise with Homes NSW relocation officers, advocate for tenants to ensure their relocation reflects their needs and ensures their wellbeing.
